| Glen Turner is a versatile musician who brings a uniquely full tone to his powerful and dynamic guitar playing. His ability to infuse any genre of music with feeling has made him one of the most sought after guitarists by bands across Europe.
Born in Sheffield, Great-Britain, Glen´s great grandfather bougth him an G banjo at the age of six. After hearing a recording of the Beatles´-------------- he begged his family for a guitar. He got his wish and has been playing ever since. By age fourteen glen was performing in all the major venues of Sheffield. At age sixteen he joined "The Reflections", a band composed of the founding band members of fellow Sheffield native, Joe cocker. Soon Glen was on his way to London where he caught the eye of the entrepreneur, Lou Reizner. This led to an engagement in the orchestra of the original rock opera "Tommy" at the Rainbow Theatre in London. Other producers, such as Will Malone, also took notice of this young talent. The impressario, Kim Fowley called him "boy genius" and hired him to play on his successful glam rock album, "Internaltional Heroes". Collaboration in 1976 with Joe Cocker´s pianist, Chris Stainton, brought Glen to Nashville and the recording of their album "Tundra". By the last 1970s Glen´s career was well established in England. After years on the London music scene, Glen looked to the European continent for new impulses and moved to Germany. He quickley solidified his reputation as a powerful and versatile singer/guitarist, playing with bands across Germany, covering rhythm and blues, jazz, rock and pop favorites. He has played the most prestigious venues such as the "Alte Oper" in Frankfurt, ----------------in Hamburg, ------------ in Berlin, ---------------in Munich and has been a regular performer at the Frankfurt Music Fair. In his free time he has composed original jazz and blues tracks, many of which habe been recorded. His latest project returns him to his roots in the blues. He has collaborated with Pete Haycock, the ace guitarist of "Climax Blues Band" fame. Their CD entitled "Pete Haycock´s True Blues Live featuring Glen Turner" has been received with great enthusiasm and critical acclaim. A hugely popular live mini tour of Germany and Austria followed. This success, along with a recent engagement in California, has boosted Glen to explore more deeply his passion for the blues and his fascination with jazz. He has set his sights on America as a source of inspiration and a new musical horizon. A new dawn is breaking for this accomplished musician. |
